What is an Installation?

An installation is a crucial step where equipment, primarily involving a gateway (mandatory), and optionally accessories, is set up and linked to an asset. This step initiates the asset's integration into Fleeti and is foundational for further fleet management activities.

However, it's important to note that, currently, Fleeti Admin only supports installations related to the provider Fleeti Tracking. Other providers like Hiboo cannot be managed through Fleeti Admin.

The Purpose: Standardizing Gateway Configurations

One of the core goals of installations is to standardize the configuration of gateways. This ensures consistency and ease in managing assets. A critical prerequisite for a successful installation is ensuring that the settings for the gateway model are updated and accurate. Refer to the 'Gateway Model Settings' to get a comprehensive understanding of this aspect.

Initiating an Installation

To access installations, navigate to the Operations menu and select 'Installation' from the operation types. This action will load all the installations onto the page. The interface provides tabs for various installation statuses, offering easy navigation and access to the specific installations you need.

Steps of an Installation

An installation undergoes several distinct stages, each reflected by a specific status:

Pending: The initial status when the installation is created.

Configuration: In this stage, the installation is being configured. This includes setting up the sim card, configuring the gateway, and adding any accessories. The configuration is meticulously checked and validated.

Configured: Once the configuration is completed, the status changes to 'Configured'.

Ongoing: When the actual installation process begins, the status is 'Ongoing'.

Verified: Following installation, a verification process is conducted to ensure that all components function as intended. However, it's important to understand that a 'Verified' installation doesn't necessarily imply everything is perfect; it signifies that a verification has been performed.

Done: When the report for the installation is added, indicating that the equipment is installed on the asset, the status changes to 'Done'.

Closed: The final step involves validating the installation. This step includes linking the gateway (and any existing accessories) to the asset.

Managing Installations

In Fleeti, you can perform various actions related to installations:

- Add: Create a new installation.
- Edit: Modify existing installation details.
- Delete: Remove an installation.
- Configure: Set up the installation.
- Verify: Check the installation.
- Add/Update Report: Document the installation details and progress.
- Validate: Validate and finalize the installation process.

Planning View for Installations

Fleeti also offers a planning view specifically focused on installations that are ongoing, missing reports, or pending validation. This allows for efficient monitoring and management of ongoing installations, identification of installations requiring reports, and those pending validation before closure.

Conclusion

Incorporating equipment into Fleeti begins with an installation. These steps are fundamental in maintaining standardized gateway configurations and ensuring seamless asset integration. Understanding and effectively managing these installation stages contribute significantly to efficient asset management and accurate fleet monitoring.
