Replace the gateway on an asset
If your intention is to replace the gateway, a development is underway to provide a specific operational process. However, while waiting for this feature, here is the procedure to follow.
How to Replace an Asset's Gateway
- Go to Asset View
First, go to the view of the asset to which the gateway is currently associated in Fleeti Admin.
- Find the Gateways Section
In the asset view, locate the section that displays the gateways associated with this asset.
- Screenshot
Capture a screenshot of the accessories related to the gateway. Ensure that the screenshot displays all the properties of the accessories table.
- Select "Unlink Gateway"
- Check if the gateway is in the warehouse account
- **Go to the Fleeti Tracking Panel of the customer's country **
- Go to the gateway detail.
- Click on Tracker Settings.
- Open the tracker detail accordion.
- Click on Replace Device and follow the instructions.
- Associate the gateway with the asset
Send a message to support to link the gateway to the asset by providing the following information:
- IMEI of the gateway,
- Customer reference.
- Asset name.
- Create Sensors
Navigate to the asset view, in the gateways section, click on the menu button related to the gateway, and select "Add accessory."
Fill in the accessory information and click "Validate."
This step should be performed by the technician after the support intervention.- SIM Card Replacement
- If the SIM card from the old device is reused for the new device, no additional actions are required.
- If the SIM card from the old device is different from the SIM card of the new device, it is necessary to update the SIM card information as indicated in the following article: Changing the SIM Card of a Gateway
Impacts on the Asset
- The new gateway is now linked to the asset.
- The data history of the new gateway will now be associated with this asset.
Impacts of the Old Gateway
- The old gateway is permanently removed from the system.
What if I did not follow the correct process?
I deleted the old gateway.
Unfortunately, there's nothing possible to have the new gateway keep the historic before the replacement.
I did not delete the old gateway.
Good new, you can save the replacement and keep the historic on the gateway.
- Search the new gateway IMEI in the installation. If there's one, delete the installation.
- Go to the warehouse account of the country. Search the gateway IMEI, if there's is one delete it.
- Follow the process described above from the beginning.
